Because lauric acid is the most abundant medium-chain triglyceride in coconut oil (it makes up 76 percent of the MCTs), it isn’t metabolized as rapidly or efficiently as pure MCT, which is made up exclusively of capric and caprylic acids.

MCT is tasteless, odorless, and liquid at room temperature, making it versatile in usage, whereas coconut oil has a strong odor and distinct flavor and is solid at room temperature.
