Which Is Better Online Or Traditional Education

Online education has increased significantly over the past few years. It has multiple reasons to provide flexible study time, provide more study material and have diversity in the class. The most important reason behind the rising of online classes is pandemics. The covid-19 pandemic compelled schools and colleges to go online. However, traditional education cannot be totally discarded it has its own benefits.

Online Vs Traditional Education

Before deciding which model of education is better, it is important to know the advantages of both online and traditional education. Before analyzing we must know the strengths and weaknesses of both modes of education.

Here are some parameters on the basis of which we will be analyzing which one is better.

1. Social Interaction:

When comparing both, we must look at the kind of social interaction both modes are providing. Online education provides an opportunity to interact with teachers and students through video conferencing and teachers can share study material via screen share mode. There are facilities to take live classes as well.

Traditional education is a great option for those who are looking for face-to-face communication. Students can directly engage with other students as well as teachers. Students can have real-time discussions and doubt-clearing sessions at the same time. It will ultimately improve student performance and social adaptability.

2. Flexibility:

This is one of the major aspects for working students. Online education offers flexibility to students, they can access classes in their free time without being forced to attend lectures at the prescribed times. On the other hand, traditional does not have any such kind of flexibility of timing.

3. Value learning:

Traditional education is best to teach students discipline. Discipline is one of the most important aspects of life and it is necessary for students to learn discipline and consistency in completing their homework and assignments on time. While the internet does not teach you any kind of values. It is best for self-disciplined and self-motivated students.

4. Budget:

Online courses tend to offer greater flexibility with budget. Students can choose courses according to their requirements and can save excess expenditure. While traditional does not have such flexibility regarding tuition fees. But students can have access to other facilities like playgrounds, computer labs, laboratories, and libraries. Students do not have access to all those facilities online.

5. Accessibility:

Online education is only accessible to those students who can afford network connectivity and in the area of high connectivity. In India network connectivity is not too high and hence not accessible to major classes of students. However, traditional education is easily accessible to remote areas as well

6. Personalized learning:

Online education is highly personal and can be customized according to the needs of students but traditional learning is not personalized rather it is group learning. There is less chance of a customized method. Sometimes the teacher is not able to focus on each and every student.

Thus, we find that both traditional, as well as online, have their own pros and cons. It depends on the requirement of requirements and needs of the learner. Traditional education is necessary for junior students in order to inculcate social and moral values among them. Students learn how to adjust to society through traditional education.

Online education is preferable for elder students who already know societal values. It is the best choice for distance or part-time learning. So it totally depends on the need of the learner.
